The Island of Doctor Necreaux is a cooperative adventure game for one to five players, set in a 50's pulp-style "World of Tomorrow." The diabolical Doctor Necreaux has kidnapped the world's top scientists and forced them to build a Doomsday Device. The Doctor's ultimatum: "Surrender rule of the world to me or I shall destroy it!" Your team's mission is to infiltrate the island, rescue the scientists, and flee in the escape shuttle before the island explodes. Good luck!
Each player assumes the role of a super-competent agent with three distinct special powers. For example, you could be a pyrokinetic rocketeer with danger sense. The island is a deck of cards, each describing a monster, trap, event, or item on the island. A "Scientists" card starts somewhere in the middle third of the deck, and an "Escape Shuttle" card starts somewhere in the bottom third of the deck. You take one turn as a team (There's no waiting for your turn in TIoDN - it's always your turn!). On your turn you decide whether you're resting or exploring. If you rest, each agent gains health/resources and you get to peek ahead in the island's adventure deck. If you explore, you (as a team) pick a speed – a number greater than zero – and attempt to draw and resolve that many cards from the adventure deck, one at a time. When your turn ends, the countdown timer moves one step closer to zero. If the timer reaches zero and you haven't found the Scientists and the Escape Shuttle... Well, just try to be somewhere else before that happens.
